"Who's Outside My Studio?"

I will be away from my studio a few days, so I wanted to leave you with this little cute guy. He showed up at my door about a year ago. He had to jump up on the porch or walk up the steps to get there.
I think he wanted his portrait painted.:) I am collecting several outside my studio photos. I wonder who will visit this week?? Thank you for visiting!! Have a great day!

"Wrapped Up Day"

Remember when you were a kid and you received birthday presents all wrapped up in beautiful colorful paper. I was thinking while painting this that a sunset is kind of God's way of wrapping up the day in one big beautiful package. There are still things I would like to do to this, but I'm wrapping the day up with this post. I hope you had a wonderful day!!

"By the Shed"

I recently found photos of our dairy farm taken before it was sold for a golf course. They bring back so many memories of spending summers riding my bike around the farm with my kitty cat hanging out of the basket—poor thing.  I wish now that I could go back and paint everything to capture those memories and share them with my children and friends. This was a very old shed that was behind my grandparents house—I can remember many days my dad and grandfather stood welding farm equipment standing by this shed. Right behind the shed was our garden, many a rotten strawberry was thrown in family strawberry wars—of course, I was usually the one with the most battle wounds.

I'm happy with the trees in the background, but I'm not too happy with the foreground. I do like how the shadows carry your eye right to the cow.

I painted this for father's day for my dad. I hope it brings back as many fond memories for him as it did me. I would like to continue a "Back on the Farm" series and share more memories with you.

"Tropical Pear"

I found this cute little acrylic plate at Kohls and had to get it. This is not a very good photo—there are more variations in the pear that are not showing up. I will try to take more photos the next time I post, but now my patience after 20 photos is thin. :)

"Grandma's Basket"

I posted this a while back and was not finished yet, so I went back and darkened the background and messed with it a little bit more. I decided after I named it the last time that my grandma did not have peppers in her basket, but I'm sure when I'm a grandma that my basket will, because my boys love anything spicy.

I would also like to thank Leslie Saeta for the beautiful painting I won in a drawing on her blog. All week Leslie drew names for prizes of items to celebrate her birthday. Leslie paints beautiful paintings using palette knives and also has a blog talk radio show every Thursday loaded with information on selling artwork online. Great information—if you have not listened you definitely need to check it out.

"Juxtaposition"

It is so awesome how God created everything with such beautiful light and dark colors and shapes all juxtaposed together to create the beauty around us. While painting this study of the Lavatera I thought about how just placing color on the board continually next to one another created the flowers. In the same way another perfect example of God's palette would be my wonderful blogger friends whose talents are all linked together into a beautiful community. Your generosity of sharing knowledge and encouragement with one another is so truly amazing.  One special blogger friend Julie Haynes, that I have just recently met has such beautiful paintings and words  to share—with her paintings she also shares her heart. I hope you will welcome her to the blogosphere. (If you are also new—welcome) Special thanks to those who have been so welcoming to me!!

"Hazy Day"—Study of Aerial Perspective

I painted this from my studio porch looking out at what used to be part of our dairy farm. Everyday I am blessed with the beauty of the changing seasons and weather conditions. This day was a very hazy day and soon started raining—I was safe on the porch which made it even more fun to paint.
